A Day In The Park

At three months old and now "officially" attending daycare, our lives are busier than ever. We are still trying to take each day as it comes and enjoy all that we can for every day is different and Finn is growing more than ever. He is finally sleeping through the night, eight hours straight, if you can believe it...we still can't.  We are sad that summer is coming to an end but excited for dad's football season and the cooler weather of fall.  We had planted a red maple tree in the front yard to signify Finn's birth this year, so we can't wait for our "growing tree" to gradually change color along with the season.

What we know

Here's what we know....We know Finn prefers his own fist to a pacifier. We know he prefers sleeping on his tummy rather than his back. We know he could amuse himself for hours just by looking in a mirror. Well maybe not hours, but mirrors are definitely his favorite! We know he can pump and kick his legs like a true born athlete. We know mornings are when we get the most "happy time" filled with smiles and games of "peek-a-boo." We know fresh air and car rides truly do have the most calming effect. We know he sneezes twice in a row every morning just like mom. We know his favorite song is "You are my sunshine." We also know he is the love of our lives and we can't wait to find out more!!

Milestone after Milestone

From the first smile to lifting his head for the first time, every day it seems we learn something new about Finn.  Although our goals remain the same, all we wish for is a strong healthy son.  He has already taught me patience, that you can never give too much encouragement and to take the time to slow down and enjoy the day. I can't believe how big he has gotten already as I look back at pictures from almost 11 weeks ago!  We are still learning how to get him to enjoy baths and sleeping on his back but already know he loves peek-a-boo and dads goofy dancing. I just hope he got his moms rhythm instead of his dads dance moves. His next doctors appointment isn't for another month so only time will tell how much weight he will have gained and which milestones are next.

New beginnings

At our first Dr.'s appointment (2 weeks old) Finn hadn't quite gotten back up to his birth weight like the doctors like to see.  So I brought him back a week later only to find out he gained almost a pound, weighing in at 8 lbs. 12 oz.  It didn't take long after that before he was our now "chubby, yet healthy" Finn

Finn Joseph Cichy is here

Finn Joseph Cichy was born May 29, 2008 at 12:42 pm weighing 8 lb. 1 oz. and measuring 21 inches long.  It took him awhile to cry, making me very nervous because from the hospital bed I couldn't see him and not being able to hear him right away was even harder. But all the nurses were quick to say that he was very alert and ready to meet the world! We took him home the next day and are very excited to start living our lives as a new family of three!

Countdown begins...

After arriving at the hospital it didn't take long to get "hooked up" and settled in. The only problem was that we had no idea how long we were actually going to need to be settled in for. With being induced I had heard labor tends to take longer but luckily with an epidural, 16 hours of labor went pretty smoothly.

We left the house a family of 2 and returned home a family of of 3

I had gone into the hospital May 28th for a non-stress test. Luckily, the nurse told me that Dr. LaChance was "on-call" that day, so if I really played it up by saying that I was uncomfortable, not sleeping, etc. I could probably convince her to induce me. Sure enough a mere hour later she told me she had called the birthing center but that they were full at the moment and so she sent me home with the intention of calling me as soon as a spot opened up.
My mom had already arrived in town so she started on my hair to waste time.  With newly colored and cut hair and a couple hours passing, we finally got the call to go into the hospital. There was only one problem...Josh had just left to go play golf. :) Fortunately he had recently joined the 21st century and finally had a cell phone of his own so I called him to come home with the news that we were being induced! This picture is one of my favorites! Taken by my mom, we had our bags packed and were on our way to the hospital!
